PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occupied area, the weight, and the manufacturing cost of a shock-absorbing material for packing which is used for transporting and storing a product such as an HDD for computer. SOLUTION: The entire overall shape of a shock-absorbing material 10 is formed in a box shape by using polypropylene foam with its expansion ratio of 45 times for its material. Four bulkheads 13 are provided therein along its shorter side parallel to each other at equal spacings. A partition part 14 for forming a storage part in which an HDD is fitted and stored is provided on each bulkhead 13. Four sets of side ribs 11, 12 having a trapezoidal shape in plan view and a side view and leading from the upper end to the lower end of a side surface of the shock-absorbing material 10 are provided on side surfaces in a longitudinal direction and in a transverse direction of the shock-absorbing material 10.
