PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buttonhole sewing machine which can improve workability of buttonhole sewing. SOLUTION: The buttonhole sewing machine (20) includes: a needle bar (40) which vertically moves in a condition supporting a sewing needle (41); a presser foot (70) which is set movable in vertical and horizontal directions and presses around a sewing position of the sewed object at a lowering position; a revolution means (revolution motor 84) which revolves the needle bar; and an operation means (exchange mode key 90d) which outputs an instruction signal to revolute the needle bar in 180° upon exchanging the sewing thread. The sewing machine is equipped with a control means (CPU13) to control the revolution means to reciprocate the needle bar by 180° each time the operation means is operated.
