<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device capable of smoothly suppressing lowering of light amount of specified color light or color non-uniformity even when a display device is shifted with respect to the optical axis of a projection optical system so that a projection distance may be shortened. <P>SOLUTION: The display devices 16, 19 and 26 are shifted in a Z-axis direction with respect to the optical axis of a refractive optical system part 30. Thus, a projection distance of a projector is shortened. A wavelength-selective half wavelength plate 29 for rotating a polarization direction of green light beams by 90° is disposed between a dichroic prism 27 and the refractive optical system part 30. Thereby, the green light beams are made incident onto the refractive optical system part 30 as P-polarized beams, whereby a transmittance of the green light beams in the refractive optical system part 30 is increased, while lowering of the light amount of the green light beams or color non-uniformity resulting from lowering of the light amount of the green light beams is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
