<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure countermeasure information derivation method allowing derivation of cause/countermeasure information of failure occurring in a system by acquiring latest failure information related to commercial software or open source software from a Web site and practically using a database wherein update timely continues based on the information. <P>SOLUTION: The cause/countermeasure information of the failure is derived with information obtained by state confirmation of the system 120 as an information-deriving keyword in reference to a site information DB 117 having failure information collected from the failure information Web site 122 and a cause candidate DB 116 having information about the Web site wherein information effective to cause investigation is disclosed in each category of the failure.
