PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device capable of guiding, even when traveling along an unknown map of unregistered road for the first time, and improving the convenience. SOLUTION: The car navigation device 100 (navigation device) includes a GPS receiving device 40 for acquiring present positional information; a display part 50 for displaying map data 31, including map-registered roads; and a CPU 10 for determining whether a present position G is on a map registered road or on a map unregistered road, based on the present positional information and the map data 31, and controlling so that a joining point J, from the present position G into the map registered road is set, when it is determined that the present position G is located on the map unregistered road, and that guide information (N1 and N2) including the distance from the present position G to the set-joining spot J and the direction from the present position G toward the set joining spot J is reported to a user.
