PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a fluoroalkyl ether such as hexafluoroisopropylmethyl ether with high selectivity using an inexpensive raw material. SOLUTION: The method for producing a fluoroalkyl ether represented by formula (2) includes decarboxylating a compound represented by formula (1) in the presence of an amine compound and a hydrohalic acid. In the formulae, Rf<SP>1</SP>and Rf<SP>2</SP>may be the same or different and each represents a group: CF<SB>3</SB>(CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>(wherein n is a natural number of 0 to 10) or a group: CH<SB>3</SB>(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>m</SB>(wherein, m is a natural number of 0 to 10), provided that at least one of Rf<SP>1</SP>and Rf<SP>2</SP>represents the group: CF<SB>3</SB>(CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>; R<SP>1</SP>represents an alkyl group that may contain a substituent, an aryl group that may contain a substituent, or an alkenyl group that may contain a substituent; and X represents a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom.
