PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a USB host device for changing a mode from HS mode to FS mode for communication with a USB device without adding a special configuration on the USB device side. SOLUTION: The USB host device communicates with a USB storage device in the HS mode defined in the USB 2.0 standard by utilizing an EHCI host controller that is provided in a USB controller in an initial state. Meanwhile, when a predetermined switching condition is established, a command to use an OHCI host controller is issued to the USB controller (S310-S330), and bus reset is issued to the USB storage device through the OHCI host controller (S340). Thereafter, communication with the USB storage device is performed in the FS mode defined in the USB 1.1 standard by utilizing the OHCI host controller provided in the USB controller.
