<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering rhenium from rhenium-containing superalloy scrap, wherein the superalloy is usually a nickel-based superalloy. <P>SOLUTION: A method for recovering the rhenium from the rhenium-containing superalloy scrap includes the steps of forming an oxidation feedstock of flaky form from the superalloy scrap 30 and oxidizing the oxidation feedstock to convert rhenium into a volatile rhenium oxide. The oxidation feedstock is made flaky form by increasing the surface area of the superalloy scrap.
