PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for maintaining compatibility with a conventional image signal without increasing transmission bands as much as possible while reducing a load of a pixel interpolation process at a receiver side.

SOLUTION: An image feature information multiplexing apparatus 2 includes: an inputting means 21 which outputs an image signal to an interpolated image producing apparatus (receiver) for performing a pixel interpolation process of the image signal using a filter coefficient corresponding to image feature information, and inputs the image signal; a feature information-extracting means 22 for extracting the image feature information indicating correlation between an object pixel and a surrounding pixel from the image signal; a signal multiplexing means 23 for multiplexing the image feature information extracted by the feature information-extracting means to the image signal; and an outputting means 24 for outputting the image signal which is multiplexed by the signal multiplexing means, wherein the image feature information is previously associated with the filter coefficient to be used by the interpolated image producing apparatus.
