PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue playback of contents at usual playback speed on appearance without causing buffer underflow when a receiving state of a content playback device is poor, even when a content distribution device does not accumulate moving picture contents at a plurality of kinds of encoding bit rates. SOLUTION: When a buffer monitoring part (204) which monitors an accumulation state of streaming data to be accumulated in a buffer (202) for playback determines that the receiving state is poor based on the accumulation state, a control unit (210) requests streaming data for variable speed playback to the content distribution device (100), and reproduces the streaming data for variable speed playback so that an appearance becomes the usual speed.
