PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoothing agent (leveling agent) that provides a smooth coating surface by preventing cissing to dusts of different kinds without impairing interlayer adhesiveness upon re-coating, by adding a small amount thereof to a coating. SOLUTION: The leveling agent for a coating includes a copolymer which has a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-60,000 and is obtained by copolymerizing 2-50 wt.% of silicone oil (monomer component A) having an acrylate group or a methacrylate group with 50-98 wt.% of a hydroxy acrylate or hydroxy methacrylate (monomer component B) having a primary hydroxy group at a terminal thereof.
