PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small coil component having a stable shape. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing the coil component includes the steps of: forming a coil portion 14 by processing a round lead wire 13; and forming a coil body 15 by compact-molding a magnetic powder to form a green compact on the coil portion 14 using a die 17. Here, in the step of forming the coil body, the lead wire 13 led out of the coil body 15 is deformed into a flat shape by crushing it with the die 17, whereby the small coil component having a stable shape can be obtained.
