PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat knitting machine having a cover, which reduces the number of necessary components and has a cover to be smoothly opened and closed by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The front cover 2 includes an upper edge side held by a holder 20. The top surface traveling body 30 has a running shaft 31 in the vicinity of the front end. A running wheel 32 integrated with a gear part 32a and a running roller part 32b is fixed to the running shaft 31 at both sides in a central axis line direction to be a direction perpendicular to a paper. A running roller 33 is arranged in the vicinity of the rear end of the top surface traveling body 30 and is supported in a running state forward and backward by a support rail 10. The support rail 10 is equipped with notches to be engaged with teeth of the gear part 32a. The holder 20 is rotatably supported on the running shaft 31. Use of a component to become a hinge structure is not required in connecting the holder 20 to the top surface traveling body 30, a number of components is reduced and smooth opening and closing are performed by a simple constitution.
