A number of terminals (10) are in communication with a base or connection station and a control unit (12) determines allocation of resources for communication from each terminal to the connection station. At least some of the terminals comprise a number of connections (VC1, VC2,...VCN) and the allocation of resources is determined cell by cell or packet by packet during each connection. The control unit (12) comprises a device (30) for allocating the resources to each terminal as a function of the total number of cells or packets on stand-by in each terminal and also as a function of a weighting coefficient assigned to each terminal. The resource allocation is independent of the number of connections of each terminal. Independent claims are also included for a telecommunication terminal and a control unit.
