PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming device capable of preventing a failure of density adjustment and color shift detection, performing the proper operation of an image forming resource by performing density adjustment and color shift detection from some point of time after the elapse of time, and not deteriorating productivity. SOLUTION: The color image forming device includes: a plurality of image forming stations; and an endless belt suspended on a plurality of rotating rollers for transferring a toner image from the image forming stations. The device also includes: a moving means for moving, in the axial direction of the rotating rollers, the endless belt whose length in the axial direction of the plurality of rotating rollers is longer than the length of a photoreceptor located on each of the plurality of image forming stations; and a formation means for forming a pattern for the color shift adjustment of the toner image in each color and the density adjustment of the toner image transferred from the photoreceptor to the end of the endless belt moved by the moving means.
