PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for solving problems such as the instantaneous periodic inaccuracy of generated high-resolution pulses and an accumulated error of the number of generated pulses during the fluctuation of rotation speed, in a method and a device for generating high-resolution pulses from a low-resolution pulse outputted by a crank position sensor which are synchronized with the same. SOLUTION: The pulse generating method includes steps for: measuring a low-resolution pulse period each time the low-resolution pulse is generated; estimating the next low-resolution pulse period from the measured period; on the other hand, counting the high-resolution pulses generated after the generation of the low-resolution pulse; comparing the count value with any constant; on the other hand, measuring a difference between generation times of the low-resolution pulse and the high-resolution pulse; and correcting the high-resolution pulse period which is generated according to the estimated period, the difference of the times, and the comparison result.
