PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a player to be attracted by a game machine even after the termination of an action of opening frequency improving means in the game machine having the opening frequency improving means. SOLUTION: The game machine performs a big winning game when a lottery symbol started to be variably displayed by the entrance of a game ball at a start port is stopped and displayed at a winning symbol, and then, enables the start port to be in an opening frequency improvement state after the termination of the big winning game. The game machine previously stores a normal variation pattern table and a time-shortening variation pattern table which correspond to the opening frequency improvement state of the start port, and a special variation pattern table which is different from these tables. The game machine determines a lottery symbol variation pattern by using the time-shortening variation pattern table during the opening frequency improvement of the start port, determines the lottery symbol variation pattern by using the special variation pattern table till a prescribed time elapses when the state is shifted from the opening frequency improvement state of the start port into the normal state, and then, determines the lottery symbol variation pattern by using the normal variation pattern table.
