PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella shank that prevents a loss of an umbrella bag and is easy to use and an umbrella provided with the shank. SOLUTION: A hollow shank 11 provided on an umbrella 1 can store a folded umbrella bag 15 inside it. A strap winding part 12 is disposed inside the shank 11; one end of a strap 13 is mounted on the strap winding part 12; and the other end is mounted on the umbrella bag 15 via a fixture 14. Users can attach or detach the umbrella bag 15 on or from a frame part 16 and a rain receiving part 17 by pulling out only an appropriate length of the strap 13. When the users finish attaching or detaching the umbrella bag 15, the strap 13 is automatically wound up according to the bias to the strap 13 of the strap winding part 12. Like this, as the umbrella bag 15 of the umbrella 1 is always connected with the body of the umbrella 1 by the strap 13, the umbrella bag 15 is protected from losing.
