PURPOSE: An air conditioning device for a vehicle is provided to enhance the performance of an evaporator by automatically increasing the idle speed of the engine if the performance of the evaporator decreases in an idle state. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioning device for a vehicle comprise an idle sensing unit(30), a cooling sensing unit(40), an outdoor-temperature determining unit(50) and a controller(60). The idle sensing unit senses the idle state of the vehicle. The cooling sensing unit senses the cooling state of the indoor space of the vehicle. The outdoor-temperature determining unit determines the outdoor temperature of the vehicle. In a state the idle signal of the idle sensing unit and the cooling sensing signal of the cooling sensing unit are simultaneously input, the cooling performance of the air conditioning device is increased by compensating the idle speed of the engine(18) if the determined outdoor temperature exceeds a predetermined reference temperature.
