PURPOSE: An environmental stress-tolerance inducible Capsicum annuum gene CaBI-1 is provided to induce high temperature, dryness, or bittern stress tolerance. CONSTITUTION: A Capsicum annuum bax inhibitor(CaBI-1) of environmental stress-tolerance contains an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1. The environmental stress includes high temperature, dryness, low temperature, bittern, or flooding. A polynucleotide encoding CaBI-1 polypeptide comprises a polynucleotide encoding a protein having an amino acid of sequence number 1; or a polynucleotide of sequence number 2. An expression vector contains the polynucleotide of CaBI-1 polypeptide.
