A three-phase double-break contactor comprises a plunger armature 4 connected through links 23, 17 to pivoted contact bridges 11, 12, 13 which are arranged in a housing 5 so as to be inclined at an acute angle to the path of movement of the plunger. On energization, the plunger is attracted moving link 17 to the left against the action of spring 26 and allowing springs 16 to urge the bridges into engagement with their fixed contacts. An auxiliary set of contacts mounted in a housing 7a is connected to link 17 by a bell-crank lever 19. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the contact bridges are pivoted on a pin comprising two frusto-conical halves joined by their larger ends so that the bridges can rock transversely to their paths of movement. |
