A novel terpolymer contains (A) 70 to 85 mole per cent of methyl methacrylate, (B) 5 to 10 mole per cent of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, wherein the total mole per cent is 100. This terpolymer may be reacted with 0.1 to 1.5 moles of a polymethyl ether of a polymethylol melamine per mole of hydroxyethyl methacrylate. The exemplified catalyst is the triethanolamine salt of p-toluene-sulphonic acid. The copolymer may be made in solution using benzoyl peroxide as catalyst.
