PURPOSE: A linear compressor is provided to ensure stable operation by controlling the stroke of a piston by quickly sensing the top dead center area of a movable member. CONSTITUTION: A linear compressor is composed of a machine unit and an electrical control unit. The machine unit is composed of a fixed member, a movable member, a spring, and a motor unit. The fixed member comprises a compression space. The movable member reciprocates in the fixed member and compresses refrigerant in the compression space. The spring elastically supports the movable member in the moving direction of the movable member. The motor unit is connected to the movable member and reciprocates it in an axial direction. The electrical control unit comprises a rectifier, an inverter unit(12), and a control unit(17). The rectifier receives AC power and outputs it as DC voltage.
