Class 108(1). A sliding roof panel 19 is moved by a handle 12 rotatably mounted at the forward part of the fixed roof. The panel 19 is connected at each side adjacent the roof guides by cables 14, 15 which pass through channels surrounding the roof aperture to mesh with opposite sides of a gear-wheel 13 mounted on the spindle 10 of the handle 12. If desired the handle unit (Fig. 14) may be secured to the fixed roof part in such a manner that the handle 252, spindle 210, spindle bearing and gear-wheel can be removed vertically downwards to facilitate correct positioning of the roof panel. The gear-wheel may also be driven by an electric motor through a slipping clutch. |
