PURPOSE: A printing device and a control method are provided to cancel the operation at once when the paper of the required size is accepted to the sheet feeding unit excepting the sheet feeding unit which is appointed by the print job, to establish the sheet feeding unit again with the print job, and to increase the user work amount since printing is repeated. CONSTITUTION: The printing device(102) includes: a memory unit; a determination unit; a restriction unit; a decision unit; and a print control unit. The memory unit memorizes the size of the print media accepted to each of a plurality of sheet feeding units. When receiving the print job appointing the sheet feeding unit, the determination unit is remembered in the memory unit and determines whether the size of the print media corresponding to the designated sheet feeding unit accords with the size of the necessary print media or not. In case of establishing the one sheet feeding unit among a plurality of sheet feeding units while the restriction unit restricting the execution of the print job, the determination unit decide the established sheet feeding unit to be a backup of the print media using in the performance of the printing job. The print control unit supplies the accepted print media in the sheet feeding unit determined by the decision unit and practices the print job. |
