PURPOSE: A wireless remote metering terminal and a method for activating the same capable of automatically activating the wireless remote metering terminal when frequency in a pre-set specific band is detected from wireless signals. CONSTITUTION: A digital meter interface unit(110) interfaces the metering data of a digital meter in connection with a water meter. A main control unit(180) saves the metering data with time information and collects the metering data of other meters. The saved metering data is transmitted and the metering data of other meters is relayed under the control of the main control unit. A memory(160) is in connection with the main control unit to save the metering data of other meters. A wireless module(190) wirelessly transmits the metering data to a remote data server.
