The tail skid (10) has a contact blade (11) extending from one contact end (11') to another contact end (11''), where the former contact end is provided with a top face (12) facing a rotorcraft and a bottom face (13) facing ground (2). An additional contact member (21) prevents contact of the bottom face with the ground, and a fastener (30) is provided for fastening the contact member to the former contact end. The contact member has a fastener face (22) that is held against the bottom face, so that the bottom face is completely covered by the contact member. An independent claim is also included for a method for preventing a rotorcraft from overturning forward or sideways during landing.
