An object of the present invention is to provide a sealing material for a honeycomb structured body containing well biosoluble inorganic fibers and having superior coating properties to a ceramic block or the like even a long time after preparation of the paste, the sealing material for a honeycomb structured body of the present invention comprises inorganic fibers, oxide sol and inorganic particles, wherein the inorganic fibers include at least one kind selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal compound, an alkaline earth metal compound and a boron compound, and a pH of the sealing material for a honeycomb structured body is 4 to 6.
