<p>The apparatus has a guiding element (2) for contacting a container (10) in an area of a peripheral wall and guiding the container on a preset path. A driving device (8) drives the guiding element for conveying the container, and a base support element (4) supports the container in a base region during conveying of the container, where the base support element is vertically displaceable. A driving element causes vertical adjustment of the base support element, where a movement of the driving element is coupled to a movement of the driving device.
