An ink used for forming an organic layer of an organic electroluminescent element comprising a pair of electrodes and the organic layer interposed between the electrodes by a printing method. The ink comprises a first solvent having a boiling point of equal to or more than 220°C and a constituent material of the organic layer and has a surface tension of less than 34 mN/m.
