<p>The invention concerns a tool unit for a cutting or sawing machine comprising at least one disk shaped tool having a peripheral edge portion (54), which is the working part of the tool, a peripheral driving part (63) at a radial distance from said peripheral edge portion of the tool, and an axle part (62) at a radial distance from the peripheral driving part, said peripheral driving part including a circumferential driving surface (64) provided to be able to cooperate with a power transmission, wherein an annular recess (65) is provided in the tool unit between said peripheral driving part and said axle part, said annular recess having a depth extending in the axial direction of the tool unit and a width extending in the radial direction between inner and outer side walls, allowing a bearing (31) to be mounted on said axle part, such that a lateral portion of the bearing may be accommodated in the recess. The invention also concerns a cutting or sawing machine comprising a machine body and a tool carrier (20) wherein at least one tool unit of the described type is rotatably mounted in the tool carrier.
