Image data transmission method and corresponding system

The method involves sending a main request (R1) from a camera control unit i.e. control room (3), to a selected camera (21) to request quality video flow. Auxiliary requests (R2) are sent from the control room to auxiliary cameras (22, 23) to request fixed images and degraded video flow. Data rate consumed by emission of the images or the degraded video flow from the auxiliary cameras is lower than data rate consumed by emission of the quality video flow from the selected camera. The image data sent by each camera is visualized in remote display windows (41-43) according to the requests. An independent claim is also included for a facility for controlling cameras.
