<p>The present invention relates to data compression, in particular to coding and decoding of video and/or audio data, and provides a method for taking quantization constraints into account during post-processing. Specifically, quantization information indicating the threshold values employed during the quantization process may be determined at the encoder side and encoded together with the quantized data. The quantization information may be employed at the decoder side to detect whether data has been overly altered by post-filtering, i.e., whether a post-filtered data value is within a quantization interval other than the quantization interval of the original data value. In this case, the overly altered data value is replaced by a correction value, which is determined at the encoder side and also encoded together with the quantized data.</p> |
