PURPOSE: An exhaust performance improvement method for a diesel engine using two-stage injection is provided to optimize the injection rate and enable application of HCCI(homogeneous charge compression ignition) combustion without a large modification of an engine. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust performance improvement method for a diesel engine using two-stage injection is as follows. First-stage injection is implemented to create pre-mixed gas at a crank angle of BDC(Bottom Dead Center) 60 degrees while maintaining low-temperature reaction in order to prevent the compressed air in a combustion chamber from reaching a diesel fuel ignition temperature of 750K before the completion of the injection. Second-stage injection is implemented after TDC(Top Dead Center). Accordingly, the compressed air temperature in the combustion chamber is reduced by the latent heat of vaporization generated in the first-stage injection and pre-mixing compression ignition is embodied through the ignition delay and injection delay of the second-stage injection.
