Dissolved moisture and air as well as free water and solids are removed from spent transformer oil by first heating the oil in a chamber 4, introducing the heated oil into a centrifuge 1 in which the free water and solids <PICT:0983690/C4-C5/1> are separated and removed continuously by means of a paring device, and discharging the oil still containing the dissolved moisture and air into a vacuum chamber 3 where the dissolved moisture is evaporated and removed with the air via a suction pipe 11, the purified oil being removed through an outlet device 9, 10.
