[Also in Division G3] A governor valve comprises a piston valve 1 moved axially in response to flyweights 7 to control the flow ports 4. The piston valve is connected to a rod 14 which carries a flange member formed with axial surfaces which contain racks 16 and flat surfaces 18. The racks 16 are engaged by gear segments 13 on the lugs 11 of the flyweights to provide the axial movement of the valve while the flat surfaces 18 are engaged by cylindrical surfaces 12 on lugs 10 to provide rotation of the valve with the governor to prevent sticking. The weights are pivot on rods 9 and are mounted on bearings. The weights and valve piston are driven from a gear wheel 5 formed on a sleeve 6.</p> |
