PURPOSE: An equivalent model construction method of a vehicle sub frame used for finite element analysis are provided to facilitate design change of the sub frame by changing the location of a mount, surface and dimension of the sub frame from design initial examining step of the sub frame. CONSTITUTION: A sub frame is composed of a right and left symmetry structure and is modeled to have six freedom of degree per a node. A part, where a frame is connected, is set as a joint(10,20). Material characteristic and other property of a frame is given to the joint. Cross-section areas are assigned to one side of an equivalent model based on symmetry axis. Data of material characteristic is extracted from each cross-section areas.
