FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone (menadione, vitamin K3) which is widely used as a preparation for improving blood clotting. The method involves oxidation of 2-methylnaphthalene-containing material with hexavalent chromium compounds in an acidic medium.
