A method for electroslag welding sheet metal panels in vertical and lower position by a fixed electrode of large section coated with a uniform continuous layer of insulating flux on the surface of electrode and feed into the welding area of an adding material. Additional adding material is fed in the form of two components - fixed plates of metal housing of electrode and adding material fed into the area formed in the cavity of one or two molding devices depending on the thickness of treated panels connected to a current supply source.
