PURPOSE: A payment system using a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to reduce crime using personal information by processing a payment without providing a card number of an account number to a seller. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal and a payment means for processing a payment are registered to a financial company server(S305). A payment service providing server establishes an intrinsic ID code and a password which are related with the mobile terminal and the payment means(S310). A payment program for the payment means is installed in the mobile terminal(S315). A payment request signal is transmitted to the payment service providing server from a seller server(S230).
