PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and control method thereof are provided to display a menu icon by considering usability of a user. CONSTITUTION: A controller(180) detects a multi-touch and drag type by using a sensing unit. The control unit changes random menu icons displayed on a display unit into menu icons of a preset specific category according to the multi touch and drag type. If dragging or flicking is detected in a state in which menu icons of specific category is displayed, the controller changes the menu icon into a different specific category according direction of the dragging or flicking.
