The element i.e. window (8), has an LED (18) for emitting light to a main transmission direction (42) locally non-perpendicular to a plane of a pane, so that light beam (40) of the LED is penetrated into a main face (32) of the pane. The pane includes an outer pane, an inner pane (12) and an intermediate pane (10) located between the outer and inner panes. The intermediate and inner panes form a chamber (15), where the LED is extended in the chamber or opposite to the chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for illuminating an edifice.
