PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method of driving the same are provided to compress a signal of an YUV image data and Y image data by converting an RGB image data into YUV image data. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal display device and a method of driving the same, a timing control circuit(310) receives a control signal from an external system. The timing control circuit generates a gate control signal and a data control signal by using a control signal. A gamma reference voltage generation circuit(340) mixes a high electric potential voltage and a low electric potential voltage to generate a plurality of gamma reference voltage. A gate driving circuit(320) applies a scan pulse to the plural gate line in response to the gate control signal. A data driving circuit(330) supplies data voltage to a plurality of data line in response to the data control signal.
