PURPOSE: A method of preventing detection error of a diesel particulate filter is provided to prevent the damage of a diesel particulate filter due to regeneration by the accumulation of an excessive particulate matter since misconception of the amount of collection of particulate matters due to the effect of 'Deep Bed Filtration" in a diesel particulate filter is prevented. CONSTITUTION: A method of preventing detection error of a diesel particulate filter comprises next steps. If operation starts, the regeneration associated variables of the diesel particulate filter are monitored to perform mileage regeneration(S103). If it is determined that there is no effect on "Deep Bed Filtration" when the amount of collection of particulate matters is determined(S105), then according to differential pressure, the amount of collection of the particulate matters is predicted and regeneration is performed(S106).
