Cosmetic composition (A) comprises at least one carbonyl compound (I) or its solvate in a medium. Cosmetic composition (A) comprises at least one carbonyl compound of formula ([H 3C-CH 2-CHCH 3-(CH 2) 5-[C(=O)] q-(CH 2) r-CH 2-C(=O)-X-CR1R2-CR3R4-(CH 2) n-S] q-Y1) (I) or its solvate in a medium. n, q : 0 or 1; p : 1 or 2; r : 2-12; X : O or NH; R1-R4 : H, OH, COOH, COOR, CONH 2, CONHR, or 1-3C alkyl optionally substituted by a COOH group; and R : 1-6C alkyl optionally substituted by OH, provided that when p is 1, then Y1 is H or thiol protecting group; and when p is 2, then Y1 does not exist. Independent claims are included for: (1) the carbonyl compound (I); (2) cosmetic treatment of keratin materials such as skin, lips, eyelashes, nails or hair, comprising applying a cosmetic composition to the keratin materials; (3) intermediates comprising salt compound of formula ((H 3C-CH 2-CHCH 3-(CH 2) 5-[C(=O)] q-(CH 2) r-CH 2-C(=O)-S-CH 2-CH 2-NH 2)(HX)) (IIa) and/or triphenyl sulfonyl compound of formula (IIb); (4) use of at least one intermediate compound (IIa) or (IIb) for preparing (I); (5) cosmetic treatment of keratin materials, comprising applying, simultaneously or separately, (I) (where p is 2), and at least one reducing agent to the keratin materials, and optionally massaging the keratin materials, especially in the case of keratin fibers, for a period of 2 hours and 30 minutes, and/or optionally rinsing; (6) cosmetic treatment of keratin materials, comprising applying, simultaneously or separately, (IIa) and at least one base, where (IIa) and base are present in the medium; and optionally massaging the keratin materials, especially in the case of keratin fibers, for a period of 2 hours and 30 minutes, and/or optionally rinsing; and (7) kit in two or more parts, including, in a medium, (I); or (IIa) or (IIb).
