PURPOSE: A device and method of steer by wire system are provided to improve steering feeling by delivering steering tension through a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION: A device of steer by wire system comprises a steering demand detection part, a car speed detection part, a controller(15), a memory part(16) and a motor controller(17). The steering demand detection part detects the steering demand according to the drive of the steering wheel. The car speed detection part detects the driving car speed. The controller generates the reaction force torque according to the steering demand and car speed and operates a reaction force motor(18). The controller calculates an actuator(19) by calculating the steering stroke. The motor controller drives the reaction force motor according to the control signal transmitted from the controller through network. The motor controller offers the reaction force torque to the steering wheel.
