Disclosed are: an ether compound which is capable of maintaining high adhesion to a base even in the presence of moisture; a lubricant which contains the ether compound; and a composition for a lubricant, which contains the ether compound. Specifically disclosed is an ether compound represented by the formula: (X-)s(W-)t(Z-)uY. In the formula, X represents a group that has a group represented by formula (X0) at an end; W represents a group that has an HO-CH2CF2O- group at an end; Z represents a group that has a CF3(CF2)a3O- group at an end; Y represents a (s + t + u)-valent perfluorinated hydrocarbon group or the like; x represents a number of 1-7; w represents a number of 0-4; z represents a number of 0-2; (s + t + u) represents a number of 2-7; a3 represents a number of 0-19; and R1-R5 each represents a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom or the like.
