The present invention relates to a device (1) for cutting a slit (21) in a wall (8). The device (1) according to the invention comprises a hand-held circular saw (2) for cutting a slit (21), a guide rail (3) which can be arranged on a wall (8) for guiding the hand-held circular saw (2) along the wall (8), and engaging means (6) displeacable along the rail (3) with which the hand-held circular saw (2) can be placed into releasable engagement with the rail (3), wherein the hand-held circular saw (2) can be tilted in order to introduce the saw blade (7) into the wall (8).
