The invention relates to a hydraulic device having power recovery, said device including a first chamber (10) in which a piston (11) is intended for moving in expansion and compression, said movements causing a flow of fluid within a circuit, said circuit including at least one second chamber (12) and two loops (CC, CD), each enabling unidirectional flow of fluid between both chambers (10, 12), a first loop (CD) being supplied with the fluid flowing in the expansion phase and the second loop (CC) being supplied with the fluid flowing in the compression phase. Said loops (CC, CD) are formed so as to both supply, in a predetermined direction, a hydraulic engine (3) having a predetermined displacement and moreover having a predetermined resistant torque capable of converting the fluid flow passing therethrough into a rotational movement, the power of which is recovered by an electric generator (4). A discharge valve (5) is mounted in parallel with the hydraulic engine (3) between the inlet and outlet of the latter, the discharge valve (5) being activated for a predetermined threshold flow rate.
