<p>Provided are: a clay mineral that includes an ultraviolet absorber in an intercalated state; and cosmetics containing the same. The clay mineral enables incorporation of an ultraviolet absorber as a powder component into a cosmetic preparation, and can effectively absorb a wide region of ultraviolet rays. In the clay mineral, a high intercalation degree and high intercalation strength can be attained. The clay mineral is characterized in that both a polybase and an anionic ultraviolet absorber are intercalated between the layers of a water-swellable clay mineral. The polybase is preferably a polymer having cationizable nitrogenous groups, while the aninonic ultraviolet absorber is preferably 2-phenylbenzimidazole-5-sulfonic acid or hydroxybenzophenonesulfonic acid, or a sodium salt thereof.</p> |
